Now you tube provide great feature for its deaf users also…
YouTube is opening up its auto-caption feature to everybody, a move that benefits not only deaf users, but also people who watch videos in really noisy places, like airport terminals. And since the tool will be able to translate captions into your choice of 50 languages, it should be handy for viewing YouTube clips from around the world. (For now, however, auto-captioning works only with videos in English.)
Auto-captioning borrows some text-to-speech algorithms from Google Voice Search to automatically create captions upon viewer request. As you’d expect from machine-generated captioning, the results aren’t perfect, but they’re fairly accurate for formal presentations and keynote-type speeches with minimal background noise. In other words, auto-captioning gives you a pretty good idea of what’s being said, although some of the finer points may be misleading or just plain wrong. On the plus side, a video owner can download the auto-captions, clean them up, and upload acorrected transcript…..

Google is testing a credit card comparison service… but if you want to try it you’ll have to be really lucky. Oh, and in the UK too.
Last October Google launched a new form of ad that lets users compare prices on products. Essentially Google Product Search but for financial services and with more options for choosing your perfect product, it only worked with US mortgages. Now Comparison Ads are being tested again, this time in the UK for credit cards. Once again though, you’ll only get to try it if you get lucky when you search for credit card related keywords.
Users searching for credit cards see an ad (if they’re lucky) prompting them to click through to to a chart comparing prices from a number of providers. After entering a few basic facts like age and household income they can choose the best price.
Gmail users will soon have more ways to keep up with their friends via a widget that shows quick status updates like Facebook and Twitter do, The Wall Street Journal reports.
The move would further turn Gmail, which revolutionized online e-mail, into a comprehensive communications hub. The intent is to keep people’s attention centered on Google, by making Gmail, not Facebook, people’s first stop online — and their default place to send and receive messages. Gmail users can already chat via Jabber or AIM, make video calls, and send SMS messages from Gmail’s web interface.
Google has been trying to fashion Gmail into more than an e-mail service for years. The service currently lets users set an “away message,” which can be a link to a Web page, that their friends see when they instant-message them. Now, it plans to launch a new interface that will aggregate updates from more friends in a stream.
LG thinks its found the antidote to bulky and unwieldy touchscreen mobiles with its new miniature handset.
The super-slim LG Mini manages to pack in a 3.2-inch touchscreen phone, WiFi, GPS, and a 5-megapixel camera with face detection.
Designed to slip comfortably in a shirt pocket or a tiny handbag, the phone has also been built to stand up to modern living with its textured metal side panels which LG calls “reassuringly solid to the touch”.
For staying in touch on the move, the phone comes with push email and Social Network Connect – giving built-in access to Facebook and Twitter. Browsing the sites should also be fast with the Mini’s 7.2Mbps HSDPA connection.
The LG Mini will be available in the UK from April with price and full specifications to be confirmed closer to the date.
