There’s been a lot of discussion about Facebook’s security problems. Mark himself admired the problem during the interview with Walt at D8. Just a bit later Facebook took measures to resolve the issue and a lot of amendments were made in Facebook’s security settings. But it seems that instead of improving security problems, facebook has messed things up or is just blowing in our eyes in this regard.
Right now, facebook is undergoing the worst ever security hiccups. One can’t even imagine how mercilessly his personal details are being shared with the world. And there’s no urgent solution. It is not related to your account/password or anything. It is not like a case in which your password is compromised and you could resolve the issue by changing the password or security question. It is even worse! In fact users are being logged into random facebook accounts instead of their own when they log in!!

Some large e-commerce sites with product pages created from manufacturer’s databases are seeing less traffic to those pages.
Google’s spokesman for page rankings has confirmed that the company made a major, permanent change seeking to return “higher quality” pages for product searches. Website managers who make their income from Google search results traffic don’t necessarily agree with quality of Google’s changes.
What Google seems to have done, according to Search Engine Land writer Vanessa Fox, is change the ranking of pages that seem to be auto-produced from databases, and don’t have unique additional content such as user reviews. (Update: Fox writes in the comments below this story: “Rather, I said this was a change to the types of pages that rank well for long tail queries. I simply used an e-commerce site with that type of structure as an example of a type of page that would generally receive long tail traffic that might no longer be considered “high quality” enough to rank well.”)

When a piece of software is automatically installed on your computer without your knowledge, it’s called malware. But what do you call it when Facebook apps are added to your profile without your knowledge? We discovered Wednesday that this is actually happening, and stopping it isn’t as easy as checking a box in your privacy settings.
These apps appear to be related to Facebook’s sharing tools. The sites currently leaving this trail all have Facebook Connect integration, and the list includes heavyweights such as the Gawker network of blogs, the Washington Post, TechCrunch, CNET, New York Magazine, and formspring.me.

Google’s Chrome browser is shining brightly, and it’s not hard to see why. First, the stats: According to the latest NetApplications figures, Chrome now has 6.7 percent of the browser market–a stunning rise from zero prior to 2009. Competing browsers are either treading water or, as in the case of Microsoft Internet Explorer, in precipitous freefall.
So what explains Chrome’s sudden burst of popularity? Here are five reasons:

Every day 268 million people use Google to search for something. The query goes in, the company’s software programs, called spiders, crawl the Web and deliver back the most relevant links. The interaction is so simple—and the hidden calculation behind the results so complex—that it’s no wonder people tend not to notice much about the process. Who bothers to ask the ingredients of a magic formula?
Since Google’s 1998 debut, the search results page—where a home page query is returned with 10 suggested links on the left and multiple advertiser links on the right—has been through seven subtle redesigns. The most recent, in May 2007, saw the addition of images and video in what was dubbed “universal” search. On May 5, Google began rolling out its eighth iteration, which Marissa Mayer, vice-president of search products and user experience, calls “particularly large and particularly important.”

Facebook on Wednesday announced that it will open an office in Seattle to build up a new team of engineers as the social network faces continued rapid growth. It’ll be open sometime this summer, engineering manager Ari Steinberg wrote in a post on the Facebook blog; a Seattle jobs page on Facebook says that the office will be located downtown.
“As we grow to meet these challenges, we need to continue to attract the smartest, most talented technologists on the Internet,” Steinberg’s post read. “Seattle has a strong history of innovation and is home to thousands of talented technical people who we want to help us solve the challenges of designing and building the next generation of Facebook.”
