100MB Superfast Broadband To All, Swedish Government Announced Recently

Swedish government promises superfast broadband to all, as their IT-ministry is now promising that 90 percent of all Swedish homes will have access to a 100 mbit/s broadband connection before 2020.
According to Swedish IT-minister Åsa Torstensson it isn’t possible to function in the information society of today without a fast internet connection. You hear that? This is the information society, people!
The Swedish government is therefore launching a new broadbrand strategy, according to which there needs to be a set minimum level of broadband speed. Today that minimum level is 20 kbit/s, which clearly isn’t anywhere near enough if you’re going to download lots and lots of movies.
Sweden has one of the most developed Internet and broadband markets in the EU. Almost 6.7 million Swedes are regular users of the Internet, making the country one of the most online nations in Europe. Sweden’s Internet market is migrating rapidly from dial-up to various modes of broadband access. Broadband penetration approached 15% in early 2005, with high levels of DSL, cable modem, satellite, and fixed wireless adoption. Metro Ethernet, fibre, WLAN and powerline communication (BPL) access technologies are also available. In the mobile field, 3G services are available from four operators

One should know that a mobile broadband can mean any type of wireless high speed internet access. This can be through a portable modem, telephone or other gadget. Some devices that provide mobile broadband include among others a USB modems, USB sticks, phones with data modems and PC data cards.
